RDS Advantage© and RDS Connect© Announce A Comprehensive Inventory Management System

In these lean economic times, more and more churches are understanding how important it is to have good records of their physical assets. Natural disasters and losses from theft and poor inventory controls have increased the need for secure records of church property. For proof for insurance values and backup for financial statements of assets prudent administrators want good controls.

The RDS church management system introduces complete applications that include scanned barcode inventory updates, loan and maintenance information, acquisition costs, member borrowings, building/room locations and memorials. Comprehensive reports show dollar and unit details, automated e-mail, mailings and lists based upon inventory data.

· In the event of a natural disaster, a physical inventory proves to insurers your contents and values

· Provides a dollar value of contents

· Record maintenance schedules, condition of equipment, serial numbers, maintenance policies and warranties

· Track insurance policies and costs and expirations

· Track gifts of items that have been given in honor or others

· Record the cost and date of acquisition of items

· Track items borrowed or disposed of

· Record loans and loan information

· Know when items are missing

· Print barcode labels with descriptions and locations

· Take inventory with scanner, then update the database

An inexpensive barcode scanner is provided that measures just 1.26" x 2.44" and weighs only an ounce with its battery.

Data collection is fast with 100 scans per second, with enough RAM to acquire over 10,000 scans with timestamps.

Connect the scanner to a computer with a USB cable to update your inventory database.

RDS is entering its 29th year serving churches across the country. Its ministry-oriented team emphasizes excellent customer support and solid applications covering all aspects of ministry and church management.

Making Ministry Manageable

As with all new features added to RDS church systems, there is no additional cost

Convert Any Existing Windows PC into an Affordable Giving Kiosk

MEMPHIS, TN., December 1, 2010—People seldom carry large amounts of cash, or their checkbooks, to church. That’s why ServiceU (http://www.ServiceU.com) has developed giving kiosk software to enable churches to lock down any existing PC in order to create a custom giving kiosk. With the launch of TransactU kiosk features, an addition to the popular TransactU™ online donation and event registration software for churches, any organization can easily turn any Windows PC into a giving kiosk without purchasing expensive hardware.

Churches can easily provide their members and guests with a secure and convenient way to use their debit or credit cards to make donations or register for events onsite through these new donation kiosk software features.

“Because people rarely carry cash or checkbooks when they attend church services, churches are eager to look at different ways to encourage faithful tithing and giving,” says Tim Whitehorn, Founder and CEO of ServiceU. “The TransactU kiosk features provide church members and guests with an easy way to give onsite, while giving is on their minds, with just a swipe of their debit or credit card.”

To turn any Windows PC (Vista or 7)  into a kiosk, ServiceU recommends that churches position the computer screen so that it faces a wall or private area. This way, givers still have privacy while making their gift.

“Because ServiceU is a software development company, we focused on developing the best software to allow church members and guests to give onsite with their debit or credit cards,” says Whitehorn. “This way, a kiosk enclosure is not required. Churches can purchase a commercial kiosk that fits their budget or simply turn any Windows PC into a secure giving kiosk.”

In addition to being in compliance with the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standards (DSS) as a Level 1 Service Provider, ServiceU has also installed numerous security features to ensure the security of the financial data. Because givers will be swiping their credit cards, there are no numbers to be entered, making the locked down PC impenetrable to keystroke logging software to which other programs fall pray.

The kiosk features of TransactU also allow for church members and guests to register and pay for events with their debit or credit cards.

How to handle known offenders at church

Christianity Today International is conducting a groundbreaking national survey on attitudes about sex offenders in churches. We would like to know what you think. Take the survey now and get a free download "Child Sexual Abuse Response Plan." Here's the survey link: http://bit.ly/9MJC7E

Also, I will be presenting at NACBA's annual conference in Orlando this summer on the topic of how to handle known sex offenders in church. To support the survey data we are gathering, I would like to speak with church leaders who have dealt with this topic. If you have had to work through this at your church and would be willing to discuss your experience with me, please contact me directly at: mliautaud@christianitytoday.com.

Thanks for your help.

RDS Advantage, a national developer of church management systems, announces the release of its new version, containing more than 100 enhancements and new features, with capabilities going beyond those included in most church management systems. RDS Advantage is unique in that all features are included at no additional cost, giving churches unusual value with no limit of capabilities.

  • Payroll check-in/out times using fingerprint and/or finger vein readers is integrated with the Payroll system for tamper-proof processing of payrolls. No time clock is needed. The fingerprint/finger vein technology is available throughout the system for individual identification in other applications as well.
  • Remote check deposit combines accounting data entry for gifts and receivables with bank deposits in one step. During processing, images of both sides of checks are stored and the deposit endorsement printed automatically.
  • Optional automatic printing of signatures during check printing.
  • Insta Check-In features support all areas of church, event and Sunday school activities. Child security, health issues, session notes, parent and guardian tracking, automated check-in and check-out, user-control of check-in monitor graphics and colors, automated printing of check-in and check-out sheets, bar-code or proximity card identification and automated attendance and visitor tracking are included.
  • when enrolling guests in activities, they may be assigned classes and groups based upon age and age-ranges, gender, marital status and geographic location. Because these features are part of the entire relational database there is no need for a secondary interface of data. Attendees may check in/out by name, home phone number, bar-coded keytags and/or fingerprints or finger vein identification.
  • Automated letter addressing to members, participants, vendors, and “customers.”
  • More than 1,500 Help topics are now web-based and can be automatically displayed for each application.
  • Enhanced VOIP (voice over Internet protocol) telephone messaging is an integrated feature. No equipment is needed and your phone lines are not used. A thousand phone messages can be delivered within three minutes, and can even speak the names of those called as messages are delivered.
  • A comprehensive Library system, based upon current Library of Science standards, includes touch-screen lookup for library patrons. Items can be checked out and in with scanners. Library forms and inventory are printed by the system.
  • Event, facility and equipment scheduling tracks all elements of scheduling, including custodial schedules and set-up. Scheduled events are exported into web calendars on your website. Staff vacation and time off can be tracked showing composite staff scheduling.
  • Remote data processing from geographically scattered ministries is supported by your on-site RDS Advantage server.
  • NACHA (National Automated Clearing House Association) electronic banking for all accounting (Payables, Receivables, Contributions and Payroll) without the need of other third-party software.
  • Ministry leaders (heads of departments) can print their own departmental financial statements without having access to other sensitive accounting information.
  • Quick accounting entry to move funds between bank accounts.
  • Enhanced capabilities to defer/un-defer payable items.

Twenty-six years of technical leadership brings to churches and not-for-profits a system built around a normalized relational database, using advanced programming tools to produce a native Windows system in a main-frame development environment. These techniques deliver a solid, easy to use system that puts little overhead on networks or hardware.

President Dick Webber explains it is their call to be in ministry, based upon the Great Commission of Matthew 28:19-21, that motivates the RDS Advantage team to a committed service to churches.
